postpartum doula

Day and Night Support

The postpartum doula is a trained professional that offers non-medical physical, emotional, and spiritual, support to a new mother and the rest of the family. Research shows that the quality services of a postpartum doula can ease the transition that comes with the addition of a baby to a family, improve parental satisfaction, and reduce the risk of mood disorders. © 2005 DONA International

Wombmate's postpartum doula services include:

  • Non-judgmental emotional support

  • Evidence-based information and on a variety of postpartum and newborn care topics

  • Nutritious meals & snacks, upon request

  • Tips, troubleshooting and support for breastfeeding, pumping, and/or bottlefeeding

  • Assistance with physical recovery from birth

  • Observing for signs of perinatal mood disorders

  • Family support, including older siblings and pets

  • Identifying local resources and providing referrals

  • Help develop a rhythm and/or schedule so both partners can get their needs met (sleep, shower, eat, etc.)

At the beginning of each shift, we will discuss your priorities and needs for that shift. My goal as a Postpartum Doula is NOT to take over complete care of the newborn but instead support parents in their new role, eventually working myself out of job. Wombmate typically works with new families during The Fourth Trimester, or the first 12 weeks, unless there are severe breastfeeding issues, postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, multiples, or a baby with special needs.

Please inquire about rates.

Days: 4 hour minimum shifts

Nights: 8-12 hour shifts

*Wombmate also provides night nanny services, meaning care for baby is solely being provided by myself.
