Perinatal Social Worker
WHAT I DO
Emylie is changing the way we treat reproductive mental health through psychotherapy and psychosocial interventions! Emylie runs an independent practice specializing in addressing the physical, mental, and emotional needs of individuals during the perinatal period.
PERINATAL: period during pregnancy planning, pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, pregnancy loss and early parenting up to one year.
Emylie's practice provides a range of specialized mental health care for the full-spectrum of maternal mental health, including perinatal mood and anxiety concerns, reproductive mental health, and general maternal mental health. She offers resources for the community through direct support and professional referrals.
Emylie recognizes that the experiences of birthing people often go unsupported, unrecognized, and/or invalidated. With Black maternal mortality rates continuing to rise and the future of sexual and reproductive health/ rights in the country looking pretty bleak, Emylie decided to abandon traditional American ideals of individualism and work collectively in order to help more families and provide a higher quality service. She supports all pregnancy outcomes and provides affirming support to the LGBTQ+ and alternative lifestyle communities.

FIND COMMUNITY In addition to professional support, peer learning offers our clients the opportunity to learn from each others navigating the same journey! As a client, you will learn a great deal more by explaining your ideas and knowledge to others and by participating in activities in which you can learn from your peers. This is a small group where new families can find support and validation, share coping skills, and discuss topics like boundaries, intimacy, and anger in a safe space. This group is often co-facilitated and supported by local doulas and gives clients the opportunity to build bonds. You will never feel like your in this alone.
Feeling completely unprepared for the physiological, emotional, and relational changes you're experiencing?
Emylie is a confident leader with expertise to share! She uses an integrative and holistic approach, adapting her methods for each client. She provides her clients with practical tools and knowledge to help them feel safe and supported. Emylie helps her clients trust themselves more deeply, teaching them to turn inward for guidance. During your 1:1 sessions, receive education about mood and anxiety disorders, understand your stressors, learn to adjust your expectations and minimize judgment, express your feelings and improve communication strategies, and learn coping skills to manage the demands of parenthood. Emylie's methods include Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and non-directive counseling.
Additionally, because we know inadequate social support is a risk factor for PMADs, Emylie offers comprehensive packages that include:
